SEDIMENT FILTER BAGS FOR BULK DEWATERING

Manufactured With High-Quality Geotextiles

Sediment filter bags are specialized containment solutions commonly employed in construction and environmental applications. Typically made of nonwoven geotextile filter fabric or specialty woven monofilament geotextiles, these bags are designed to capture and contain sediment and silt from any water-pumping activity. Their primary function is to ensure effective filtration and sediment control, aiding in compliance with environmental regulations and protecting aquatic ecosystems.

Strategically positioned in areas where sediment-laden water is anticipated, sediment filter bags play a crucial role in dewatering operations, construction sites, stormwater management, and various excavation activities. They are an essential tool in projects where soil disturbance is inevitable, such as land developments, road constructions, and drainage improvements. Easy to install and highly efficient in their operation, sediment filter bags offer a practical and cost-effective method for sediment control.

APPLICATIONS

APPLICATIONS

ADVANTAGES

Dewatering Operations Filter and separate sediment from water during dewatering process
Construction Sites Manage runoff from areas where earthmoving, excavation, or construction activities disturb soil
Stormwater Management Capture sediment and other particulates from stormwater runoff
Trenching Manage and treat water that is extracted during trenching or boring operations
Erosion Control Control stormwater runoff and filter our sediment

Specifications: Standard pump sediment filter bags manufactured from nonwoven geotextile fabric with an inlet port to accommodate a 4-6” pipe. Stock sizes are 7.5’ x 15′, 15’ x 15’ and 15’ x 30′.  Custom-size bags and materials are also available.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

SEDIMENT FILTER BAGS

What are Sediment Filter Bags?

Sediment filter bags are containment solutions made from geotextile materials designed to filter out sediment, silt, and other particulate matter from runoff or discharge water.

How do Sediment Filter Bags work?

These bags function by allowing water to pass through their fabric while retaining and capturing sediment and particulate matter, effectively filtering the water before it’s discharged.

Where are Sediment Filter Bags commonly used?

They are commonly employed in construction sites, dewatering operations, stormwater management, pond and lagoon cleanings, trenching activities, dredging projects, and various other applications where sediment-laden water is anticipated.

How do you determine the location and size of Sediment Filter Bags?

When determining the location and size of sediment filter bags, you need to consider factors including:

  • Pump flow rate
  • Quantity and type of sediment
  • Permittivity of fabric used
  • Estimated volume of effluent
  • Size limitations due to lay down area on-site common placement option

How are Sediment Filter Bags Installed?

The installation process typically involves placing the bag in a designated area without a slope, ensuring it is anchored or secured, and then pumping the sediment-laden water into the bag. The water filters through, leaving the sediment trapped inside.

Are Sediment Filter Bags environmentally friendly?

Yes, by capturing sediment and preventing it from contaminating water bodies, these bags play a crucial role in environmental protection. Moreover, many bags are made from recyclable materials, furthering their eco-friendliness.
