Geosynthetic Applications

Geosynthetics are a long-term and econmical solution to a wide variety of engineering applications. Geotextiles, geogrids, geocomposites, geocells, as well as gabion and Reno mattresses can be used alone or together to significatly extend the life of everyday structures.

Base Reinforcement and Soil Stabilization

Description

Geotextiles and geogrids are used as base reinforcement of soft soils or to stabilize poor subgrades.  Due to their strength, resistance to elongation, and structure,  geotextile fabrics and geogrids are capable of restraining lateral movement of the base materials they come into contact with.  They also function as a separation layer, preventing the intermixing of sub-grade soils or aggregate base.  Consider using a geotextile and/or geogrid for haul roads, access roads, parking lots, earthwork and foundations.  Call us at 609-971-8810 so we can provide you with a competitive quote.

Mechanically Stabilized Earth

Description

Geosynthetics are integral components in the construction of Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) structures such as retaining walls, steepened slopes, and embankments.  Call us at 609-971-8810 so we can help you select the right material for your project.

Steepened Slopes

Geocells, geogrids, and/or geotextiles can be placed in layers during construction to provide tensile resistance, enhanced stability and reinforcement of a steepened slope.  The facing of the slope can then be wrapped with geotextile/wire basket or geocell and vegetated to enhance the aesthetics.

Retaining Walls

Temporary and permanent retaining walls can be constructed  economically with segmental concrete blocks as the facing and geogrids as reinforcement.  Geocells or gabions can be used to created a vegetated retaining wall that is both efficient and aesthetically pleasing.

Embankments

Embankments can be constructed on soft soil foundations by placing a geogrid and/or high strength geotextile at the base to provide stability while limiting differential settlement.  Geosynthetics can also be used to reinforce earthen dams, highway embankments, landfills, dikes, levees and to repair landslides.

Permanent Erosion Control

Description

Consider using a non-woven geotextile or a woven monofilament filter fabric beneath various forms of rip-rap cover such as rock, gabions and mattresses, concrete pattern-placed units, geocells etc.  The geotextile allows for free drainage of water while holding back fines thereby preventing streambank, shoreline or channel wall erosion.  The use of gabion baskets, Reno mattresses or geocells significantly reduces the cost associated with standard forms of rip-rap cover.  In addition, the systems can be vegetated to maintain the natural beauty of the area.  Call us at 609-971-8810 so we can help you select the right material for your project.

Drainage

Description

Drainage is one of the most common geotextile applications.  Used for roadway construction, landfills, athletic fields, etc., they allow for rapid removal of water or other fluids.  Need help choosing a geotextile?  Please call us at 609-971-8810.  We’ll answer your questions so you can select the right geotextile for your application.

Environmental

Description

Landfill and waste-containment projects utilize a wide variety of geosynthetics.  Heavyweight non-woven geotextiles provide geomembrane liner protection, while high strength wovens and geogrids are ideal for reinforcing steepened slopes.  Geocomposites are used for landfill capping systems and gas venting as well as for drainage applications.  Call us at 609-971-8810 so we can help you select the right materials for your project.

Highway Construction and Development

Description

Geomembranes, geotextiles and geogrids are ideal for highway construction and also to increase the amount of buildable land for development.  They stabilize weak sub-bases as well as extending the life of pavements.  Gabion baskets can be used to line an outflow area or as a retaining wall along the side of a highway.  Envirogrid geocells can be used to reinforce a slope or wall.  Consider using one of our geosynthetic products in your next project.  Call us at 609-971-8810 so we can help you select the right materials for your project.

Green Roof Solution

Description

Root Barrier

Our polyethylene root barriers range from 6 mil to 40 mil in thickness.  They can also be factory fabricated to fit any coverage area.  They are available in unreinforced and reinforced.  In addition, they are easily welded or taped together.

Water Retention and Capillary Mat

This 18 oz./sy composite geotextile mat holds up to 12 times its unit weight in water.  It consists of a polyester bonded to an absorbent mat for maximum strength and water retention.  Available in widths up to 24’ and lengths of up to 300’.

Drainage Composites

These two-part prefabricated geocomposite drains consist of a formed polystyrene core covered on one side with a nonwoven needle-punched polypropylene filter fabric.  The fabric filters the sediments while allowing the core to help water flow to the designated drainage exits.  Available in 4’x50’ rolls.

Filter Fabric

These needle punched non-woven geotextiles work especially well for root barrier protection, separation and filtering sediments.  They are available in light weights of 3 oz./sy and heavy duty fabrics weighing as much as 16 oz./sy.  Roll sizes vary by weight.
